Hungary Retail Sales Growth Exceeds Forecast
(RTTNews) - Hungary's retail sales growth accelerated at a faster-than-expected rate in August, preliminary figures from the Hungarian Central Statistical Office showed Wednesday.
Retail sales advanced a calendar-adjusted 6.8 percent year-over-year in August, faster than the 5.3 percent rise in July. That was also above the expected growth of 5.7 percent.
On an unadjusted basis, retail sales grew 6.3 percent in August from a year earlier.
Sales of non-food products surged 10.7 percent annually in August and those of food, drinks and tobacco rose by 4.1 percent.
